We offer a full range of blood tests for both diagnostic and screening purposes.
Please be aware that all requests for bloods are strictly at the discretion of the ordering doctor only – you may be required to attend a doctor for review prior to booking bloods – you will be advised of this need at the time of booking. Please contact reception to enquire further.
You may be required to fast for your bloods – this means that you should avoid any food or drinks (other than for small volumes of water) from 10pm the day before your appointment – make sure to make an early appointment to avoid prolonged fasting – this is essential if you are diabetic or pregnant.
Blood testing is not currently covered by the GMS (medical card/doctor visit card) and there is a charge of €30 for all patients. If your blood results require additional testing within 3months the additional tests will be charged at a discounted cost of €10.
Your blood results are typically returned to us within two weeks with all results returned to the practice reviewed daily. Some tests will take longer to return a result – you will be advised of this at the time of testing. In the instance of an abnormal or unexpected finding you will be contacted by a doctor or nurse. Otherwise you can contact the practice to discuss your results with a member of the clinical staff”.
