Martina qualified from NUI Galway in 1977 and became the first ever female GP in Roscommon Town when she opened her own practice in 1987.
Martina is a member of the Irish College of General Practitioners (ICGP) and is a GP Trainer with the Ballinasloe GP Training Scheme which involves training and mentoring new doctors. She worked as the ICGP Continuing Medical Education (CME) Tutor for the East Midlands / Roscommon / Longford region for 7 years.
She holds higher diplomas in obstetrics, gynaecology, family planning, dermatology, child health, practice management, and therapeutics, with a certificate in forensic medical examination and sexual assault from the National University of Ireland. Her special areas of interest are General Medicine and Dermatology.
