Congratulations if you are newly expecting – we look forward to looking after you and your family during and after your pregnancy.

Every woman who is pregnant and ordinarily resident in Ireland is entitled to maternity care under the Maternity and Infant Care Scheme. Ordinarily resident means you are living here, or you intend to remain living here for at least one year.

The Maternity and Infant Care Scheme provides an agreed programme of care to all expectant mothers i.e. a free service to the patient for 7 visits before and 2 visits after birth of her baby on registering with the Maternity & Infant Care Scheme. This combined medical service is provided by us as your chosen GP and a hospital obstetrician and enables pregnant women to alternate visits between their Hospital (Irish Public Hospitals that provide Maternity Care Services) of choice and their GP. Once a pregnancy is confirmed then we can organise hospital referral at that stage.

You are entitled to this service even if you do not have a medical card.

Please note that the Maternity and Infant Care Scheme only covers visits relating to the pregnancy. Visits in respect of other matters (e.g. colds, coughs, illnesses, etc.) will be charged as normal.

If you are experiencing a crisis pregnancy please attend the practice and we will discuss all of your options with you in a non-judgemental, open, and sympathetic manner and will support you throughout.

*Please note that the services that we offer are for our own registered patients only.*
